Hole descriptions & Pro’s Tips

Hole 1

From the championship tee this hole can bring fear into the heart as hitting the fairway is a must, as trouble awaits both left and right, once you have negotiated the tee shot a difficult short iron second shot awaits to an undulating green

Hole 2

A long par 5 capable of ruining a good card, a double dogleg par 5 requiring three precise shot to set up your par, the tee shot needs to avoid the water on the left, the second shot needs to avoid the trees on the right and finally an accurate third shot is required to a difficult green.


Hole 3

A short par 4 requiring accuracy off the tee the left side of the fairway is a necessity to leave you a clear shot the the most undulating green on the course


Hole 4

An innocent enough looking hole with no bunkers for protection however if you miss the fairway hitting the green becomes a difficult task

Hole 5

A tough par three with no room for error make sure you take enough club from the tee to clear the bunkers that protect the front of the green.


Hole 6

A long par 5 a good tee shot is required to reach the fairway once you have completed that task then you have to decide whether to lay up short of the ditch which crosses the fairway or go for it and leave yourself with a shorter third shot into the green which slopes from back to front waiting to penalise an errant shot


Hole 7

This demanding par four is the signature hole on the course where trouble awaits you at every turn, a well-positioned tee shot on the right side of the fairway will give you the best angle to reach the green with along iron or fairway wood, but going for the green in two is only for the brave as a watery grave awaits any but the very best of second shots


Hole 8

Is the shortest of the par 3 holes but accuracy is required as a long narrow green that is well bunkered waits to receive your ball, miss the green and a difficult bunker shot awaits

Hole 9

Possibly the hardest hole on the course a long straight tee shot is required between the two trees that stand either side of the fairway, if you have managed to achieved this goal and have reached the angle of the dog leg then a second shot of over 200yds is waiting for you. The green is situated just slightly raised from the fairway and is protected by bunkers on both sides a bogey 5 is never a bad score on this hole.


Hole 10

A true 3 shot par 5, that is a potential card wrecker. With the tee shot, favour the left half of the fairway and 2 more good shots could see you safely aboard the large undulating green.


Hole 11

A good par 3, you will need to take an extra club to reach the green that sits above you, it plays further than its yardage would suggest, a 3 is always a good score.


Hole 12

A picturesque hole with an inviting tee shot, don’t be too greedy and cut too much off the corner as a large bunker awaits. A deceptively narrow green awaits for the second shot, so careful club selection is a must.


Hole 13

A short par 4 that requires precision off the tee, hitting the fairway is a must as an accurate shot is required to land on the right level of a long, narrow, 3 tiered green

Hole 14

The hole offers a good birdie chance but only if you hit the fairway, miss the fairway and this simple little hole could ruin your card

Hole 15

A testing par 3 to a slightly raised green, a tricky green awaits so even if you hit the green, a par is not guaranteed

Hole 16

A long straight par 4 with trouble on both sides of the fairway, a well struck tee shot favouring the left hand side of the fairway is best, this will give you the best angle with a long iron into a tricky green

Hole 17

A relatively short par 5 with a generous landing area for the tee shot, the green is reachable in 2 for the longer hitters. The approach to the green is inviting as the green sits below you, however, trouble awaits you both left and right if you are a little wayward

Hole 18

A tough par 4 with a severe dog leg to the left, a good tee shot will leave you a short iron approach to a large well bunkered green
